Dynasty Confirmed: Chiefs Edge Eagles 27-24 to Secure Historic Super Bowl Three-Peat

Mahomes Delivers Under Pressure

Philadelphia controlled the tempo for much of the first half, punishing the Chiefs’ offensive line and holding a 17-10 lead at the break. Jalen Hurts was clinical, utilizing his legs and arm to keep the Chiefs’ defense on its heels. However, the second half belonged to Patrick Mahomes. Despite a lingering ankle tweak, Mahomes completed 12 of 14 passes in the final two frames.

The game-defining moment came with 1:45 left on the clock. Tied at 24, Mahomes orchestrated a 10-play drive that chewed up the remaining time. He targeted Travis Kelce repeatedly, including a 16-yard gain on 3rd-and-6 that put the Chiefs in field goal range. Kelce finished the night with 9 catches for 91 yards and a score, proving again why he remains the league’s most dangerous postseason weapon.

What They Said

“We don’t care about the odds. We don’t care about the critics. This team knows how to win when the lights are brightest. To do it three times in a row? That’s legendary.”
— Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs Quarterback

“You can’t give that man the ball with two minutes left and expect a different result. We had our chances, but they executed when it mattered. It hurts, but we’ll be back.”
— Nick Sirianni, Eagles Head Coach

What This Means for the NFL

The Chiefs have now surpassed the New England Patriots of the early 2000s and the 1990s Cowboys in terms of pure dominance. While the Eagles look like the class of the NFC, they have now fallen to Kansas City in two of the last three Super Bowls. The focus now shifts to the 2025 season: Can anyone prevent a four-peat? With the core of Mahomes, Kelce, and Andy Reid still intact, the rest of the league is playing for second place.

Kansas City will return home for a victory parade on Wednesday, where hundreds of thousands of fans are expected to celebrate a feat once thought impossible in the era of NFL parity.
